History and inspiration behind UT Pray

From a long list of the ways Jesus ministered and performed miracles, the only thing the disciples asked Jesus to teach them was to pray. "Lord, teach us to pray." Luke 11:1 Jesus prayed for us in the high priestly prayer, "I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me." - John 17:20-21

When studying the history of revivals on college and university campuses in America we discover the presence of prayer as a precursor to the movement of God. This includes the Haystack revival at Williams College 1806, Wheaton 1936, 1943, 1950, 1995, Asbury 1950, 1970, and 2023, only to name a few.

Today, the Every Campus Initiative of CRU, Intervarsity, and over 100 other campus ministries is on a mission to pray for the 4188 College and University campuses in America, either by prayer walking physically or virtually. UT Pray 2024 is raising a hand to carry the torch of what God wants to do among students at the University of Texas at Austin.

Inspired by the University of Kentucky, where a student first obtained a list of all the students and enlisted people to pray, UT Pray desires to facilitate a meaningful and personalized prayer experience for those who wish to accept the UT Pray call.

UT Pray is sponsored by the Florida Leadership Center, a nonprofit dedicated to equipping and empowering the next generation of leaders. UT Pray is powered by StoryFaith.com, a technology start up building connection and engagement software for local churches.
